As noted below,WebWork is  20% of your  grade . There are  10  WebWork  assignments , each is due by  11:59 PM of the day
on which it appears on the syllabus  . Each WebWork assignment will appear online   about  3  or  4    days  before its  due .

How to  access  WebWork

1)  Click onto WebWork which is found on the Math Department page .
Or you can go directly to  http://webwork.wustl.edu/webwork2/
2) Find our course  Math  131  ( Summer )  and click onto it .
3) Login your name and password . For the first time , both your name
and your password  will be   your  six number student  ID   . Change
your password after you login  the  first time  .
4) Once you log into WebWork you will see your  assignmnets and at
what date  each can be viewed  .
5) When it can be viewed print out the problem set , go away from the
computer and work out the problems . After you think that you have solutions
for all the problems go back to your  computer .
6) Click on the problem set then click on  " Do the problem set" .
To know how to type in the mathematical symbols , such as square
roots , click on Webwork documentation followed by clicking on
"How to enter answers in WeBWorK" .
7)The program will tell you if your right or wrong .
If it says you are wrong  you may try again    .

2. Grading Information

There will be four  exams during the semester, E1 , E2 , E3 .and  a final , F  .
.

GRADES  :   Each of the  four  Exams  will count  20%  toward the final course grade  .  Similarly the grade of  the  WeBWorK  will  be   20% .

The lowest of the first 3  exam score will be replaced by the Final exam score   if  the Final exam score  is  larger than  it .

Your   letter grade     for the course  will     not be lower     than it would be if it were based  on  the scale appearing in the following table .

Numerical Range Letter Grade
    90     to   100
A
   80    to    89.99
B
   65   to    79.99
C
    50  to     64.99
D
       Below   50
F   or  NC

Missed Exams  :   If you are  unable to take one of   Exams  E1-E3 for legitimate reasons ( such as verified illness or serious family emergency )  you  will not be given   make-up   exam .  You first need to explain to me why you missed the exam and if everything is in  order you will get an   excused absence .  Your grade for the missed exam will be calculated by a   statistical proceedure which uses your scores on the other taken exams, including the Final  .  If the only exam you miss is the Final Exam , and for that receive an excused absence , then you  must take a  make-up  Final exam at the begining of the   Fall semester  2005  .

Policy  for  taking exams :

A standard-sized  3x5  index card will be permitted as a "cheat sheet" on the exams.  You will also be given
copies of what appears inside the front cover of your textbook .

.

Resources  for  Help with  Math 131    :    Old Exams  and solutions are posted on the web as a study guide ( see above , "solutions" ) .  This comes from the Math Department page and it includes exams from the past  semesters , starting with   Spring 2000 .   Copies of some of these exams should also be available to view or copy at the Reserve Desk of Olin Library.
