Subject: This is an introductory course on general topology. The only listed prerequisite is Math 411. More important than this formal prerequisite are some degree of mathematical sophistication and willingness to work hard.

Grades and academic integrity: Grades will be based on homework assignments (I expect to give about ten), one mid-term exam and the final exam. You may consult with your fellow students (or anyone else) about the homework, but you must write your own solutions and inform me of all sources you use.

Text: Topology (2nd edition) by J. R. Munkres. We will attempt to learn most of chapters 2-8. I will expect that you are familiar with most of the material in chapter 1.
