Congratulations to the two Washington University teams that participated in the annual competition sponsored by the Missouri Section of the Mathematical Association of America. Now in its 17th year, the Missouri Collegiate Mathematics Competition was hosted from April 12 to 13, 2012 on the campus of the University of Missouri, St. Louis. The competition consisted of two sessions, each 2.5 hours long, with a goal to solve five problems. A total of 41 teams from colleges and universities across Missouri took part.
One Washington University team (Tom Morrell, Alan Talmage, and Ari Tenzer) captured first place. A second WashU team (Matt Halpern, Josh Levin, and Jason Zhang) took third place. Both teams scored in the 90's on the exam.
