On Saturday, March 23, 2013 the WU Running Club will be hosting the Take Steps for Kids 5K and 1 Mile run beginning in the Quad at 2:00 pm. All proceeds will support Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri.
Excercising for a cause is a well established tradition for members of the Department of Mathematics at Washington University. 2012 graduating mathematics major Marc Hendel is fondly remembered for working as a mathematics mentor, a Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) leader at WUSTL Cornerstone, and for organizing of the Take Steps for Kids race to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"It is a great legacy he has left here at WashU" says Lisa Kuehne, the Department of Mathematics' University College Coordinator. Lisa walked a 30-mile day hike of the Tecumseh Trail on October 13, 2012 to raise money for research into a cure for childhood cancer led by the nonprofit CureSearch for Children's Cancer organization.
