Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics 2013-2014

On Friday, May 16, a total of 60 students will graduate with majors in mathematics. Twelve other majors graduated last August or December, making a total of 72 graduates in this academic year.  More facts about this year's graduates: They were born in 8 different countries; those born within the U.S. represent 20 different states, as well as the District of Columbia; women make up about 28% of these majors; 6 were elected to Phi Beta Kappa during their time at Washington University; about 25% of them are going on to additional study in fields like mathematics, computer science, economics, finance, and biostatistics, another 33% had specific job offers at the time of senior exit interviews, and approximately 10% are taking a year for research or post-baccalaureate study before applying to medical school; around 10% are returning to their home countries for work or further education.

The Department of Mathematics wishes to congratulate all the students who worked hard over four years to complete a major in mathematics, and to thank all their family and friends for the support they gave. Best wishes to each of you as you explore new options, begin careers, or continue with your education.
