Combinatorics Seminar - Embedded associated primes and the Conforti-Cornuéjols Conjecture

Brady Rocks, Department of Mathematics, Washington University in St. Louis

Location: Cupples I, Room 199 | Host: Russ Woodroofe

Abstract: The Conforti-Cornuéjols conjecture asserts that a clutter C satisfies the packing property if and only if C satisfies the Max-Flow-Min-Cut property. The 'only if' direction is well established. The conjecture can be approached using algebraic, e.g. looking at the associated primes of powers of the associated edge ideal. In this talk, we will present an overview of the conjecture, the corresponding algebra, as well as quote some recent results obtained by Morey, and Ha. In fact, much of this talk is based on a recent paper of Morey and Ha.
