The Mathematics Library is located in Cupples 1, ground floor, room 16.

The Mathematics Library welcomes virtual or in-person visitors.

Many of the Mathematics Library's services are available through the web. Our General Information Page includes:

  • current hours,
  • links to the catalog and catalog services (such as book requests/renewal, MOBIUS request),
  • online databases,
  • online services (such as interlibrary loan and Ask US!),
  • after-hours access and book check-out for math department graduate students and faculty.

The Mathematics Library contains mainly research books and journals. We also have some materials of more general interest:

  • a "Textbook" collection with a variety of recent texts used in our courses,
  • a "Browsing Shelf" with lighter materials on mathematics,
  • our "Problem-Solving" collection containing books that many have found helpful,
  • video presentations by outstanding mathematicians.

Anyone with a valid Washington University ID may borrow books.
