Research

Current Interests

My current research is in the field of affine algebraic geometry. My research centers around some very deep questions that are very simple to state: When is a ring a polynomial ring over a subalgebra? When is a polynomial a coordinate? When is an automorphism of a polynomial ring tame or stably tame?

Undergraduate Research

These were the results of REU experiences in the summers after my first and second years as an undergrad (2004 and 2005). These were done at the College of William and Mary under the direction of Charles Johnson. The basic question here was, if A and B are square matrices with a given Jordan canonical form, what can we say about the Jordan canonical form of AB?
