Course Description

|
|
The second course in the three part basic calculus sequence for students majoring in mathematics, science, or engineering.
|

1) Students will develop a basic understanding of two and three dimensional vectors, the geometry of the plan and space, and be able to apply these concepts when working applied problems
2) Students will learn various techniques of integration including integration by parts, trigonometric substitution, and partial fractions decomposition.
3) Students will acquire basic skills needed to apply integration techniques to solve a wide range of integration problems.
4) Students will develop a basic understanding of infinite series and their applications
5) Students will learn how to use parametric equations and polar coordinates

Class Attendance
|
|
|
|
|
|
Students are expected to attend all classes, and your attendance will be recorded, though it will not be a part of your grade.
Makeup exams will be given only in the event of serious and verifiable situations (illness or other extreme situations), and only if timely notification is given.
|

Course Grades
|
|
|
|
|
|
Grades will be determined from 4 exams, a comprehensive final, and homework.
Homework will generally be given weekly through webassign, although additional homework is possible.
The dates for the exams are September 7, Sept. 28, October 19, and November 9. They will be held 6:30-7:50pm.
All exams will be in our classroom except for the November 9 exam which will be in GP 208
The final is on December 7, 8-10:30am.
The grade breakdown will be as follows: 20% homework, 50% exams, 30% final exam
