In addition to the lectures there are several resources that can help you learn Calculus III.
We are using WebWork for homework. There will be 12 problem sets given throughout the semester, according to the following schedule.
Problem set 1: Due Tuesday January 30th.
Problem set 2: Due Tuesday February 6th.
Problem set 3: Due Tuesday February 13th.
Problem set 4: Due Tuesday February 20th.
Problem set 5: Due Tuesday February 27th.
Problem set 6: Due Tuesday March 6th.
Problem set 7: Due Tuesday March 20th.
Problem set 8: Due Tuesday March 27th.
Problem set 9: Due Tuesday April 3rd.
Problem set 10: Due Tuesday April 10th.
Problem set 11: Due Tuesday April 17th.
Problem set 12: Due Tuesday April 24th.
The problem sets will typically be opened Saturday 10 days before their due date. If you have any problems with WebWork you can consult the documentation, ask your fellow students or some of the instructors.
A list of suggested problems from each section of the book will be given in the lecture schedule.
Note that the suggested problems only represent a bare minimum of problems you should work on. They do in no way suggest that you should not do other problems. You should do enough problems so that you feel confident that you understand the different concepts treated in class. If you feel that you need more practice, go on and do some more problems.
We usually reference the odd numbered problems for which you can find solutions in the back of the book. You should also do some of the even numbered problems, so that you get the practice of solving problems which you do not know the answer to (that is what you need to do on the exam).
In the weekly review sessions, material from the previous week will be reviewed. In addition you can ask questions. There will be two sessions, each covering the same material, so that you only need to attend one of them. If there is something you would like to have reviwed in these sessions, send an e-mail to Scott Cook with your suggestion.
The weekly review sessions are held Mondays in Busch 100 at 4:00 - 5:00 PM and 5:00 - 6:00 PM.
The office hours are times the instructors have set aside to help students, so you should take advantage of them. The office hours are as follows:
Geir Arne Hjelle Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
Joost Berson Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 11:00 - 12:00 AM.
Scott Cook Tuesday 12:00 - 2:00 PM and Friday 3:00 - 4:00 PM in Lopata 102.
