In addition to the lectures there are several resources that can help you learn probability.
There will be 12 homework assignments throughout the semester. These will count 40% of your grade. Each problem set is due on Wednesday at the beginning of class according to the schedule below. No late sets will be accepted. The problems will be available here at least one week before their due date.
The problem sets will be taken from the Problems (P) and Theoretical Exercises (T) sections in the book. You should show enough work, so that it is clear how you arrived at the answer. Write neatly and legible, and if you hand in several sheets, staple them together in the upper left corner. Remember, you do not want to annoy the person grading your paper!
Each problem set is graded on a scale from 0 to 10 points as follows. Three problems are secretly picked and graded. Each of these problems is worth 2 points. The remaining 4 points are awarded based on the total amount of work you do. If you do not write your name clearly on your solution 1 point will be deducted.

The office hours are Monday 10:30 - 11:30 AM, Tuesday 9:00 - 10:00 AM, or by appointment.
All office hours are held in Cupples I, office 202. The office can be a little hard to find as it is off by itself on a "half-floor". If you enter Cupples I through the south-eastern entrance (from the quadrangle), you will find office 202 up the first set of stairs and to your right, before the second set of stairs.
