Wing-Suet Li and I started writing an algebra book for junior high school students. The object was to write a series of mathematics books from which motivated, but not necessarily brilliant, schoolchildren could teach themselves all the mathematics that should be covered in a pre-calculus curriculum. Our hope was that in some small way, this would improve mathematical education in the U.S. Unfortunately, we have so far been unable to interest any publisher in the project. The first two chapters have been written; feel free to print them and give them to any interested child. They cover rational numbers and algebraic formulas, and are complete with exercises.Algebra I
