Basic theory of C*-algebras geared toward their use in QFT. Topics will include spectral theory, the quantum plane, Fock space, CAR and CCR algebras, the GNS construction, relativistic particles, QFT in flat spacetime, and QFT in curved spacetime. Minimal physics background will be assumed. Prerequisites: Math 5051-5052 or permission of the instructor.
