Workshop on Wavelets

General Information

The Washington University Mathematics Department is hosting a Workshop on Wavelets during the week of March 15-19. The majority of the talks reflect recent research by mathematicians closely associated with the Departments of Mathematics at Washington University and the University of Zagreb (current and former graduate students, post-docs, faculty and visitors). This will be the first of several workshops sponsored by an NSF grant supporting related activities at Washington University and the University of Zagreb. Consistent with the purposes of this grant there will be four expository lectures on wavelets. These will be aimed at advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students who have had little or no experience with wavelets. The research talks will range from reports on advances in the theory of wavelets to reports on applications of wavelet packets to biomedical technology. Some of the speakers and participants were invited by the Washington University Mathematics Department because their work is closely related to that being carried out by those involved in the above mentioned NSF grant. We encourage all those interested to participate in this activity. Please communicate with either Prof. Guido Weiss (guido@math.wustl.edu) or Prof. Edward Wilson (enwilson@math.wustl.edu) if you have any questions about this program.
