## Math 415: Partial Differential Equations

**Lecture:** Tuesday and Thursday, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in Cupples 2 L001

**Office Hours:** Monday 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm, Wednesday 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, and by appointment

**Textbook:** Partial Differential Equations, An Introduction (second edition) by Walter A. Strauss

**Prerequisites:** Math 217 and Math 309

**Content:** I plan to cover the first six chapters of the textbook.

**Exams:** There will be one midterm and one final:

Midterm: Tuesday, October 11, in class

Final: December 19, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

**Homework:** There will be weekly homework, due on Thursday at the beginning of class.
All but your worst homework will count towards your homework grade.

**Grading Scheme:** Homework: 30%, Midterm: 30%, Final: 40%.

**Collaboration:** You are allowed
to discuss homework problems with other students provided that you have already made
a serious attempt to solve the problem yourself. You must write up your solution on your own.

**Academic Integrity:** All students are expected to adhere to the University's
academic integrity policy.
